I am inspired to work with children and families, to carve out and protect a place where young children and parents/carers can be present together in rhythm, ritual, creativity and play. Where the most important thing is here and now. A place of reliability, respect for childhood, and parenthood, filled with joy and song and nature.

The longer I worked in primary school, the easier it was to see how essential the foundations laid in early childhood are for the child’s ability to connect with others, find joy in learning, and believe in their own capabilities. In Steiner Waldorf education, these are known as the Vital Years. It has been incredible to see, through my current work in Kindergarten, how important even these young children’s previous years, from birth – three years are, for developing a strong sense of identity and relationships.
